Jamali’s most innovative contribution to contemporary art is his own medium, Fresco Tempera.
Created outdoors, Jamali uses his feet to manipulate the surfaces and colors in a ritualistic dance. Naturally ground pigments are applied to the surfaces and bonded with archival substrates. Left outdoors, the pieces are further cured by the elements and their interactions with nature.
This process of mystical expression creates layers of colors and surfaces. These stunning masterpieces, while nobly modern, are empowered by their references to ancient origins.
